wear blue is the exclusive owner of the above trademarks (herein the “Marks” or “trademarks). You may not
use the Marks, or any confusingly similar mark, as a trademark for your products or services or use the Marks
in any other manner that might cause confusion in the marketplace. The exclusive manner by which to obtain
permission to use the Marks is through a formal Trademark Use Request as outlined below.
The Marks registered by wear blue: run to remember® (“wear blue”) are valuable to the Organization’s
success and growth. Only the wear blue organization may use the Marks in advertising, promotional and sales
materials and merchandise. Any other use is governed by the Trademark Use Request Policy herein. Use of
the Organization’s Marks is regulated by the Director of Marketing and the Executive Director. The Director of
Marketing or the Executive Director are the only Corporate Officers authorized to grant permission to use the
Marks. The Director of Marketing or the Executive Director may revoke an organization or individual’s
authority to use the Trademarks. The Director of Marketing or the Executive Director will grant permission to
use the Marks is through a formal Trademark Use Request as outlined below.
1.2 Use Limitations
- When wear blue: run to remember is displayed in any materials, the registered trademark symbol (“®”)should be used in the first mention. All following mentions should be italicized.
- Ex. wear blue: run to remember®, wear blue: run to remember, wear blue
- The Marks may not be used in any capacity without prior approval. This includes, but is not limited to,
screen printed or embroidered merchandise and printed publicity materials.
- Failure to comply with these guidelines may constitute trademark infringement and unfair competition
in violation of federal and state laws.
- Any use of the Marks needs to be approved before use and is governed by the Trademark Use Request
Policy herein.
- Any use of the Marks that is not approved by the correct parties may result in legal action.
1.3 Trademark Style Guidelines
wear blue has endeavored to develop a strong reputation and goodwill in the running and military community
and amongst other charitable organizations, the result of which is that the wear blue brand and associated
trademarks have become incredibly valuable assets.
The following guidelines are intended to give clear instructions on the use of the Trademarks and to assist in
the successful utilization of these trademarks following the grant of a Trademark Use Request.
- Always use proper form and spelling for the Trademarks.
- Do not use the Trademarks as nouns. The Trademarks are to be used as adjectives to modify nouns and not as nouns or verbs. The Trademarks should be used as adjectives followed by the generic term for the product (at least once in any single promotional print material).
- CORRECT: WEAR BLUE running communities conduct volunteer programs and community service projects.
- INCORRECT: WEAR BLUE and run with us!
- Do not modify the Trademarks to plural form. Instead, revise the generic word from singular to plural.
- CORRECT: WEAR BLUE running communities participate in various races.
- INCORRECT: Join our team of WEAR BLUEs!
- Do not use the Trademarks in possessive form.
- CORRECT: WEAR BLUE running communities maintain a mission to create a living memorial.
- INCORRECT: WEAR BLUE’s mission is to create a living memorial.
- Do not translate the Trademarks into a foreign language.
- Do not use the Trademarks to invent new words, idioms, or phrases.
- Do not alter the Trademarks in any way (including the use of unapproved fonts, designs or other identifiers).
- Do not use the Trademarks in a disparaging manner or in any manner that might damage the reputation or goodwill earned by wear blue.
- Do not abbreviate the Trademarks as acronyms.
- Following any approved Trademark Use Request, any online use of the Trademarks must be linked to www.wearblue.com.
- Only use the wear blue color scheme and logo coloration. Never use any colors other than the prescribed Pantone 661c blue (unless specifically authorized by wear blue or unless the word mark wear blue: run to remember is being used in print form in which case it may also be used in black and white). Do not use gray shading.
- Any adjustments to size of the Trademarks must be made proportionately such that the overall impression of the Trademarks are not distorted. Ensure to keep the “Shoe” logo intact as it currently appears.
- The word mark wear blue: run to remember is a registered trademark. The ® should be located on the right side of the mark above the right shoulder of the “R” in “REMEMBER” (ex. wear blue: run to remember®). The ® can be in smaller, superscript or raised form but must be large enough that it is visible by the naked eye.
- The “Shoe” logo must be used with a TM located on the upper right side of the shoe. The TM can be in smaller, superscript or raised form but must be large enough that it is visible by the naked eye (Ex.TM).
- In instances where the Trademarks are used in the body of a publication, include a trademark notice:
- Ex. wear blue: run to remember is a registered trademark of wear blue: run to remember.
2. Trademark Use Request Policy
You must request prior written permission from wear blue for your proposed use of the Marks, as outlined
below. To request permission, please send an email with your detailed proposal to the Director of
Marketing inclusive of the information requested below. Any change in your initial proposal requires that
you make an additional request for that use.
1. What is the presentation, including what reference will be made to the Organization?
2. Where will the trademark(s) be used and how?
3. Why is the logo being included?
4. Who will be producing the item which will be bearing the trademark? Provide complete contact
information.
5. When will the logo be used (duration of use)?
6. Who is the audience?
*Provide a copy of the material on which the logo will appear (artwork, etc.) to help illustrate the overall
impression of the use.
